WHAT PEOPLE SAY

Jeanette P.

I went on a fall photo tour with Amanda and had the best day! We visited beautiful overlooks and explored out of the way "secret" waterfalls. She knows the best places to go! She was patient and really helped me get some good shots. We ended the tour watching the sun set over the mountains. It's hard to put into words how beautiful that was. Thankfully, I have lots of pictures to look back on.

Last Friday I finished my [full day] tour with Amanda as my guide. I can say she was outstanding, providing me with multiple opportunities to photograph waterfalls and vistas. She was more than capable of finding locations that provided me with great views and places to photograph. I am somewhat limited in my ability to climb trails so she capably maneuvered me around to the best view and showed me many locations that worked well for me.

She was very communicative and cheerful to be with the whole day... As a side note, her driving was outstanding, especially on those winding roads after sunset! ... I have been driving for 50+ years and she was spot-on when encountering those difficult curves.

Amanda was knowledgeable and helpful. Great scenery and awesome pics from the experience. Her enthusiasm for the Arts and the scenes were contagious. Highly recommended!

We had such a great time with Amanda on our half day photo tour!  My husband and I are both at different levels, he used a Canon point and shoot and I had a Sony a6000.  Amanda made sure to tailor the tour to both our abilities and equipment.  She helped me set up for waterfall shots and knew all the best places for the most beautiful vistas.  We had some good conversation in between shots and lots of laughs!  We would both recommend taking a tour from Amanda to anyone interested in improving photography skills and wanting to have fun doing it.”

These private outdoor photography workshops and hiking tours explore a mix of well hidden and well known locations throughout the Western North Carolina Blue Ridge Mountains. Each private workshop is thoughtfully tailored to your interests and fitness level. Depending on the season, tours may include expansive mountain vistas, mossy waterfalls, vibrant fall color, rare spring blossoms, rhododendron tunnels, and dramatic sunset views.

The most popular months for touring the Blue Ridge are typically May through November. Mountain laurels and rhododendrons usually bloom from late May through June, while peak fall color often occurs in mid to late October in Southern Appalachia. Summer and winter months still offer beautiful waterfall flows, open vistas, and striking light that is often overlooked.

No fancy camera or hiking gear is required. Bring the camera you're most comfortable with, whether it's your phone, a film camera, a DSLR, or a mirrorless system. Many guests book a tour to capture stunning scenes, but equally, many seek to boost their confidence and learn more about camera settings, composition, and framing. Amanda is happy to help you along the way.

All photography experience levels and fitness levels are welcome. A custom route and itinerary is created for each tour based on numerous factors to ensure an enjoyable and accessible experience for everyone.

Transportation is provided for one-on-one tours as well as small groups of two to three people. Larger groups may be accommodated on a case-by-case basis and can be discussed during a quick conversation. Tours are provided in a comfortable, hybrid SUV that is cleaned and sanitized before each outing for your comfort and peace of mind.

Snacks and water are provided, and you are welcome to bring additional snacks or meals. A portable refrigerator is available for use during the tour.
