Born in Atlanta and primarily raised in an Illinois river town just north of Saint Louis, Amanda's artistic and photographic journey began at 6 with her first film camera. This camera ignited a passion that grew alongside the luxury of a basement darkroom throughout her upbringing. Drawing inspiration from the skillful photographers and artists in her family and local circles, she continuously honed her artistic perspective. Captivating slide shows and Super 8 films showcasing her family's globetrotting adventures nurtured her passion for capturing the beauty of the world around her in various ways.
Her artistic path took a formal trajectory as she pursued a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree at the University of Missouri, where an emphasis on photography, graphic design, and printmaking profoundly influenced her creative path. Over time, Amanda has enriched her skills through various photography courses across seven distinctly different college campuses. After relocating to the serene Blue Ridge Mountains of Western North Carolina, Amanda ventured into professional photography, complemented by teaching landscape photography to all skill levels via privately guided tours and workshops.
These collective experiences have finely tuned her technical acumen and enriched her artistic vision, defining the well-rounded photographer she is today.
Amanda's dedication to her craft extends beyond her formal education. While she still uses her first camera, she continuously educates herself on new techniques and technologies as photography and the art world evolve, always seeking to improve her skills and expand her creativity.

Outside of photography, Amanda likes to spend her time traveling in her hybrid camper-conversion, playing outside, visiting art exhibits, reading a great book, and spending time with her loved ones, even if it means driving for a day (or more) to see them. Her sweet old miniature dachshund Oliver joins her on all of her adventures, and they are known in their home base area of Brevard, NC, for being the best dog-sitting team around.
